Middle School Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry programs at Saint Clare Parish are comprehensive programs that serve to foster the faith development of the young person through a variety of methods that include spiritual, social, and service opportunities.

Our Middle School Youth Program serves young people in grades 6-8.

Adventures in Service – Each summer we hold a week of service activities for middle school and high school youth.  Each morning we start with a prayer service followed by a discussion about the people we are serving that day.  We then leave for the service sites.  Some of the sites we have visited include Sarah’s House, St. Paul’s, Riverview, Meals for AIDS, Sarah’s Hope, and Happy Helpers for the Homeless.  We return to Saint Clare’s for lunch and spend the afternoon in some kind of fun activity; movies, bowling, swimming, Six Flags, etc.  This program requires several volunteers and is a rewarding experience.

Other middle school activities include an 8th grade trip to an amusement park, skating, bowling, movies, and Rock ‘n Bowl.

Coming in MarchTHE EDGE: Extreme Faith – Middle School Youth Gatherings – Once a month after school we will meet in the Church Hall for special activities.  We will have movie and game afternoons, classes in sports, crafts, and hobbies, competitions in sports and games.  Again we need volunteers to make this happen, please contact the parish center if you are able to help.

High School Youth Ministry

High School Youth Ministry is open to all young people in grades 9 through 12.

Live Wire: Connecting Through Christ – The first and third Sunday of each month we hold high school youth gatherings in the Youth Room in the Parish Center from 7:00PM to 9:00PM.  The gatherings include both social and spiritual activities.  We have scripture sharing, catholic catechesis, games, movies, and parties.  We also take part in Arch Diocesan activities including; BYCC, Hi Li, Pilgrimage, and NCYC.   Other activities include amusement park trips, bowling, movie trips, skating, etc.

Live Wire also participates in service activities each year including the annual blanket drive, Christmas show at Riverview, the Thanksgiving Dinner, and various projects that the youth come up with each year.  In 2005 we had a team in the Annual Light the Night Walk to raise money for Leukemia research.
